Do you find yourself looking in the refrigerator 10 minutes after eating dinner?
Are you always thinking about the next thing you are going to eat?
Does just the thought of having to cut calories end in downing a whole roll of toll house cookie dough as fast as you can?
YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I’m 55 years old and I’ve always struggled with being the biggest eater in the room.
After a lot of trial and error, I realized that…
YES…there is a way to satisfy my big appetite and still reach my fitness goals! I realized I don’t have to eat less while changing my body composition, I just have to eat smart!
That’s where Volume Eating comes in.
Welp, what does “Volume Eating” actually mean Angela?
Volume eating is about being able to eat a fuck ton of food for the fewest calories, without being hungry all the time. (I also like to be able to fit in my jeans).
For me:
- Starving = tired = cranky = driving to get the #2 Value Meal at McD’s
Mission:
Choosing foods that take up the most space in our stomach, but don’t pack a ton of calories.
It’s not about eating foods we don’t enjoy…it’s about zeroing in on our favorites and building big satisfying plates while still achieving our goals.
Plate building:
Vegetables – filling and low in calories…no brainer!
- Make them the base of your plate and load up…raw, roasted, sauteed, air fried..doesn’t matter
- Most satiating for me…broccoli, cauliflower, squash, spinach
Protein – anchor every meal with it! (and snacks)
- Keeps you fuller longer while maintaining muscle tone
- My go-to’s are chicken, turkey, eggs, egg whites, greek yogurt, and cottage cheese
Carbohydrates – YES carbs! They are not bad..I need them so don’t hurt people
- My favorites that keep me fuller longer…oatmeal, potatoes, popcorn, rice cakes
- Fruits – great snacks to take the edge off between meals..top picks are watermelon, cantaloupe, banana, grapefruit, apples
Hydrate like it’s your job! (and yes coffee counts. jk it doesnt… does to me though)
- If plain water bores you like it does me..squirt in some your favorite no calorie flavoring
TIME TO SHIFT YOUR MINDSET. (say it with me now)
- I can eat things I enjoy.
(yes, you have to say it out loud)
- I do not have to feel hungry and deprived.
(louder for the people in the back)
- I can keep the promises I make to myself.
(one more)
- I am worth it!!!
Volume eating isn’t a diet – it’s a strategy that has worked very well for me for years and allows me to maintain a healthy weight. It will give you control, satisfaction and the ability to live your best life.
If you are not sure how to find your calorie/macronutrient requirements or how to train during a fat loss, I would love to help you meet your body composition goals!
